I'm sure if you ever watch the Food Network, you have seen her, her sons, her husband, her show, and maybe even heard the HYPE about her restaurant; Lady and Sons- so, if you have heard of Lady and Sons, than you know that this restaurant is almost impossible to get into unless you have a reservation (of 15 plus) or you wait in a line that literally wraps around the street! And because Kobi and I LOVE Paula Deen so much, we wanted to get a guaranteed seat at her restaurant and therefore, we signed up for the "Paula Deen Tour!"
Now, if you click the picture below to make it bigger, you will see that we were the youngest two on the bus by about 45 years! ......... it was interesting!........
(It continued to pour down rain all day Sunday... hence the poncho)
Our second stop on the tour (b/c first stop was a candy shop at about 10am)- was her brother's restaurant "Uncle Bubba's Oyster House"- here I am posing with Paula's hot sauce- and if you look at my plate, you can tell that we ate a lot of food! And it was absolutely delicious! And look- We even got to meet her!!!!!!! Josh, Kobi's husband asked Kobi (after seeing the pic texted to him) said, "what was it like to pose with a cardboard Paula Deen?!" :) We thought we could fool them, apparently not!
The tour ended after about 4 hours of learning about her life- and it was very interesting but being the youngest ones we were picked on quite a bit for some reason- we visited her first home where she raised her sons, the hospital where her sons delivered "the bag lady" bagged lunches, her produce stand, and where she got married to Micheal (he husband now)- she is an amazing rags to riches story and we would have loved to have met her- but we were siked about eating at her restaurant until they told us it closed on Sunday and we probably wouldn't get a reservation (even though we were on the tour)- what crap!- so we called to try to get in, and like REALLY old folks, we had a reservation for 4:30pm for DINNER!
Unfortunately, I can't tell you that we had the pleasure to eat her food, b/c we chose not too- by the time 4:30 rolled around, we were still very full from her brother's restaurant that we chose to do more shopping instead- but maybe next trip! :)
